Slut” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “yes”. “Friendzone” is how we vilify a woman for exercising her right to say “no”.

canering replied to your post: some girl reblogged my short version summary of Summer of My German Soldier haha omg i remember that book. i actually read it all the way through, out of a sense of misguided duty. i think i was the only one in that class who did. and i hated it.

you felt guilty because it’s a book about the Holocaust. just because a book is about the Holocaust doesn’t mean it’s a good book. i personally think the Diary of Anne Frank is incredibly overrated. i’m sick of being inundated with Holocaust literature. same thing with WWII literature. just because you set your story during the most heinous atrocity committed in the 21st century doesn’t automatically make it good, or poignant, or worth my time. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is kind of the same thing. it wasn’t really my favorite book in the world, but because it’s about 9/11 that automatically makes it Important and Worthwhile. not necessarily.
and the reason people hate Summer of my German Soldier is because it’s totally foolish. i absolutely cannot identify with stupid main characters. and that girl was just flat up STUPID. the end.

some girl reblogged my short version summary of Summer of My German Soldier

and she was like “well CLEARLY all you did was read the online summary of the book or online reviews. how DARE you judge this book you don’t know anything.”

LOL BITCH DON’T YOU EVEN.
i read that book while she was still wearing diapers. that book was so bad that every single kid in my 8th grade class asked the teacher to not make us finish it. and you know what i did? i felt so bad for hating a book i hadn’t read all the way through that i went to the library and deliberately finished it SPECIFICALLY SO I COULD RAG ON IT WITHOUT GUILT. and you know what. it still sucks.

always reblog

I AM SO WEIRD! I LIKE WEIRD NERDY THINGS LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS! I KNOW WHO GOLLUM IS! I DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT BEING ONE OF THOSE “NORMAL GIRLS” WHO LIKES CLOTHES AND STUFF, SO I JUST WEAR ADORABLE VINTAGE DRESSES BECAUSE I AM REALLY EDGY! ALL THOSE NORMAL BIMBOISH GIRLS ARE SEXY, BUT I CAN’T GET DATES BECAUSE I AM A BEAUTIFUL THIN WHITE WOMAN WHO LIKES OVER-ALLS! I AM SO HOPELESS AT NAVIGATING THE SOCIAL CONVENTIONS OF MY WEIRD LITTLE UNIVERSE THAT I NEED THREE MEN TO HELP ME LIVE OUT MY WEIRD LITTLE LIFE!

*sigh*I’m looking forward to the day America gets over Zooey Deschanel.

“We were growing together for the first three decades after World War II, but for the last three decades we have been growing apart…. I should point out that the pattern in the post-1970s period is not monolithic…. [T]he period from 1992 to 2000 was an exception, when strong economic growth and the policies of the Clinton Administration led all quintiles to grow together again. Indeed, all income groups experienced their fastest income growth in years…. If in the first decade of the 2000s the income of the median household had grown at the same rate as it did in the 1990s, middle class households would have an extra $8,900 a year to spend on their mortgages, rent, cars, food, and clothing, or to add to their savings.”
